High School Students Pursue Healthcare Careers

In Dickson, we're committed to putting our community above all else. That's why the TriStar Horizon Volunteers awarded scholarships to six local high school graduates.

Investing in future healthcare leaders

Creek Wood High School students that received the TriStar Horizon Volunteer scholarship were McKenzie Broadway, Levi Plaster, and Riley Kilian. Broadway plans to attend Hiwassee College and pursue a career as a pediatric nurse. Plaster also wants to pursue pediatrics as a nurse practitioner and will begin his education at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Kilian will attend Cumberland University and plans to be become an orthopedic surgeon.

Dickson County High School students that received the TriStar Horizon Volunteer scholarship were RaeAnn Guthrie, Mackensie Johnson, and Tyler Scoggins. Guthrie, headed to Mississippi College, and Johnson, enrolled at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, will both pursue nursing. Scoggins plans to become a pediatrician and will attend Austin Peay State University.

Scholarships from the TriStar Horizon Volunteers totaled $4,000 and are awarded annually to eligible high school seniors from both Creek Wood and Dickson County High Schools. Although TriStar Horizon employees who wish to continue their education in a healthcare related field are also eligible, no applications were submitted this year.

“We are honored to have the opportunity to award these hard working students for their accomplishments, and we are confident they will succeed in life,” said Eloise Jones, chairman of the TriStar Horizon Volunteers Scholarship Committee.
