TriStar Southern Hills helps community fight COVID-19

TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center is helping end the pandemic by partnering with their community to provide vaccines and monoclonal antibody treatments. In May, the hospital administered its 500th dose of monoclonal antibody infusion therapy, a treatment proven to prevent hospitalizations in high-risk patients with active COVID-19. In addition, Tristar Southern Hills has given more than 2,100 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to their patients and community.

“When the pandemic started, our focus was to keep our employees safe while providing the best care possible to our patients,” said Joanna Conley, CEO of TriStar Southern Hills. “As the pandemic progressed, our hospital wanted to be a vital resource to our community and be part of the solution. We planned multiple COVID-19 vaccine clinics with a goal of reaching the underserved, and our hospital was eager to start administering monoclonal antibody treatments as we knew that therapy had the potential to save lives.”

TriStar Southern Hills began vaccine clinics for healthcare workers and patients 75 and older in late January. As the Tennessee Department of Health opened more tiers, the hospital continued to provide the vaccine to eligible patients and community members. The hospital has also hosted two “Sweet 16” vaccine clinics providing the Pfizer vaccine to teenagers who qualified at a time convenient to their schedules.

TriStar Southern Hills continues the offer monoclonal antibody treatments with a physician order to those who meet criteria.
